About Envision
The Envision® framework for sustainable infrastructure has been used in Canada since its creation more than a decade ago. In 2021, CSCE established the Envision Canada partnership with the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) and adopted Envision® as the primary sustainable infrastructure framework in Canada, helping accelerate sustainability, resilience, and equity outcomes in infrastructure projects across the country. More details about Envision can be found on the Envision Canada website.
The framework is supported by the Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential, which is increasingly sought after by professionals involved in infrastructure projects—whether you work in the public or private sector, in project planning, design or construction of capital assets for transportation, water, wastewater, waste, energy supply, parks and natural systems, and more.
About the ENV SP training
This training is the ISI-endorsed curriculum that equips professionals with the core knowledge required to apply the Envision framework to improve the sustainability performance of infrastructure projects. The course prepares participants to take the ISI exam and earn their ENV SP credential. The credential is maintained annually through participation in continuing education and professional development opportunities. Participants will learn to:
- Demonstrate how infrastructure can address the challenges inherent to sustainable development.
- Describe the components of the Envision framework.
- Assess the sustainability of infrastructure projects using the Envision framework.
- Describe the Envision verification process.
- Use Envision to plan, design, and deliver more sustainable infrastructure.
Following the training, participants may take the online, self-paced exam on the ISI website at their convenience to obtain the Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential.
Important: This training is a prerequisite for the ENV SP exam, and the ISI exam fees are included.
MAKE IT A COMBO WITH TRAINING IN CLIMATE RESILIENCE!
The Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability Committee (PIEVC) Protocol Training complements the Envision framework by equipping infrastructure professionals with practical tools to assess climate risks, evaluate infrastructure vulnerabilities, and identify adaptation measures. Together, Envision and PIEVC provide complementary approaches to delivering infrastructure that is both sustainable and climate resilient.
Participants who register for both courses are eligible for a discounted combined registration rate. To receive the discounted rate, register for the ENV SP Training through this page first, and then register for the PIEVC Training using the "PIEVC / Envision Combo Add-on" registration option.
