TECH TALK Apr 3, 1pm EDT: An Intro to Generative AI Systems

AN INTRODUCTION TO GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SYSTEMS

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems, including ChatGPT, DALL-E, and Gemini, possess the capability to generate text, code, images, and more through simple queries. This presentation will offer an overview of the diverse tools at our disposal and illustrate their potential application across various fields, with a special focus on engineering education and academic research.

Jean-Luc Martel holds a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering and a doctorate in hydrology and climate change from the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). Initially working as a project engineer at the firm Lasalle | NHC, specializing in water resources, he is now an Assistant Professor at ÉTS, with the goal of bridging the gap between the worlds of research and industry.
