Since 1982, the International Short and Medium Span Bridges Conference has been held every four years in Canada to provide a worldwide state-of-the-art forum on short and medium span bridges. The 2010 SMSB Conference will take place in Niagara Falls, Ontario, from August 3-6, 2010.

ICWEM 2010 is being organized by the China Civil Engineering Society (CCES), the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) and the Tongji University. It is a conference for experts, engineers and related professionals engaged in professional activities related to environmental management, environmental sustainability, the control of air, water and land pollution, and the design, construction and operation of waste disposal facilities (land/water/air).
