CSCE Short and Medium Span Bridge Conference – Technical Tours
1) TOUR A: 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm** – Friday Aug 6, 2010
Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory (SEESL) Tour
Delegates will have an opportunity to take part in a tour of the Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory (SEESL) in Buffalo, New York. The SEESL is in the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering (CSEE), at the University of Buffalo. The laboratory is capable of conducting testing of full or large-scale structures using dynamic or static loading using two shake (earthquake simulation) tables.
** Approximate arrival time back to Canada. Return time could be delayed.

2) TOUR B: 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm – Friday Aug 6, 2010
Tour of Recent Bridge Construction Projects in the Niagara Area
Delegates will have an opportunity to take part in a guided bus tour of bridges along the major highways in the Niagara area. Over the last several years, the Queen Elizabeth Way has been widened to accommodate extra traffic lanes and as a result, several new bridges have been built. Some of the innovative design and construction techniques that have been necessitated due to high traffic volumes will be highlighted.
A ticket is required to attend a technical tour. Cost is $40 including lunch.
Please Note: Availability of each tour is limited and will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Tours may be cancelled if there is insufficient demand. Refunds will be issued if a tour is cancelled.
