CSCE PRIVACY POLICY
Protecting your privacy is important to the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering ("CSCE"). To protect online privacy and to comply with the federal legislation governing the use, collection and disclosure of personal information which went into effect on January 1, 2004, the CSCE has implemented the following policy on how the CSCE collects, uses, and protects the personal information you provide on our Web site. Personal information is defined as information about an identifiable individual and does not include material on corporate bodies and partnerships.
Information Collection
When you browse the public areas of the CSCE Web site, you do so anonymously. CSCE does not collect personal information that is not knowingly provided. Only non-identifying and aggregate data is collected for purposes of statistical analysis and is used only for internal and marketing purposes.
It is our policy to collect and store only personal information that is knowingly provided in order to better serve our members and the engineering profession. Examples of how this information is used include: to process membership applications; to process Professional Development registrations; to contact members; to process merchandise payments; and to determine eligibility for recognition of membership awards.
Membership information is collected in the CSCE database which is used to generate mailing lists that are used to inform you about CSCE products, services, meetings, etc. This includes lists provided to specific CSCE Regions and Sections.
Except for purposes referenced above or where required by law, CSCE will not collect, use or disclose information without member consent.
Third Party Disclosure
CSCE does not sell, or rent its mailing lists (or e-mail addresses) to anyone outside of the CSCE. From time to time the CSCE mailing list is used by the CSCE to provide third-party information on products and services related to your profession
Secure Transactions
CSCE has made every attempt to maximize the security of financial transactions on our Web site. Credit Card payments are processed using secure processing services. If you are not comfortable making financial transactions on the Internet, you may mail or phone in your payment to us. CSCE utilizes 128 bit SSL encryption provided by GeoTrust, a leader in SSL Certificates.

CSCE uses cookies only to improve the quality of our service and to review navigation patterns. Cookies are not used to disseminate or analyze information.
Web Server Security
The CSCE Web site is housed on servers in a secure network utilizing the latest defense technologies. The servers are located in a secure data centre which implements a control system composed of a biometric reader to authenticate fingerprints, access card readers and a series of surveillance cameras.
All of the personal information collected from you on the CSCE Web site, including names, addresses, are stored behind a "firewall," and defenses have been erected to enhance the protection of your information from outside attack by hackers and curious visitors.
